Apteki.ua is a service that aggregates products from pharmacy chains across Ukraine. Its mission is to help people quickly find the medicines they need, compare prices, and conveniently reserve products at the nearest pharmacy without extra fees.
The key challenges I faced during the project were:
– Implement a user-friendly medicine search that accounts for various options (dosage, form, quantity, packaging).
– Enable search not only by brand name but also by active ingredient.
– Build intuitive navigation through product categories using the ATC classification system.
– Create informative product cards featuring all characteristics, instructions, and options to view alternatives.
– Enable pharmacy selection from both a list and a map, taking into account prices, discounts, and geolocation.
– Optimize the ordering process by making reservations as simple as possible
– Adapt all functionality for the mobile version and develop a PWA application.
I designed and implemented a fully functional UX/UI for the platform:
Search:
– Search by medicine name, specific product, or active ingredient.
– Autocomplete and real-time suggestions.
Catalog and navigation:
– A full product catalog built on the ATC classification system.
– User-friendly filtering system (form, dosage, manufacturer, availability, price) and sorting options.
Product page:
– Key information: dosage form, strength, manufacturer, instructions, price.
– Ability to switch between different variations of the medication.
– Interactive instructions with navigation across sections.
– A section for alternatives based on the active ingredient.
– Add to favorites.
Pharmacy selection:
– On desktop: map and pharmacy list displayed on the same screen with interactive synchronization.
– On mobile: separate tabs for the map and the list.
– Display of promotions and discounts during the reservation process.
Ordering:
– Minimal steps: phone number → code → confirmation.
– Order status tracking.
– In the cart: ability to search for products within the selected pharmacy.
– Conversion to orders in the mobile app exceeded 20%.
– Usability of the service was improved, especially on mobile devices.
– Positive user feedback highlighting the ease of search and ordering.
– Increased number of repeat orders through user accounts.
In the mobile version, I preserved full functionality and adapted the interface for convenient daily use:
– Added a bottom navigation menu with main sections: search, catalog, pharmacies, cart, favorites.
– Pharmacies placed in separate tabs: list and map—for easy comparison.
– Product page optimized for scrolling: easy variation switching, segmented instructions, and alternatives.
Apteki.ua is more than just an online aggregator; it’s a full-fledged health care service. I successfully created an interface that:
– solves complex search and navigation challenges within a large dataset;
– helps users quickly find the best option;
– ensures a simple and clear reservation process;
– performs efficiently on both desktop and mobile devices.
This project was a challenge for me in terms of complex logic and extensive functionality, but at the same time, it was a valuable experience in creating user-friendly services in the e-health sector.
